Practice Description
Erwin van der Wiel specializes in (international) commercial litigation in numerous substantive areas, for private sector corporations in a wide variety of industries as well as for individuals and government clients, comprising regulatory, arbitral and judicial disputes. Erwin specializes in particular in project-based contracts such as those related to construction and outsourcing. Erwin has a track record assisting multilateral companies and other clients in international commercial arbitration, both as counsel and arbitrator.

Career
Erwin van der Wiel started his career as a lawyer in 1986 with Trenité van Doorne (now Simmons & Simmons 1986 – 1993). During 1993 and 1994 Erwin worked at the law firm Foley Hoag LLP (Boston, MA) and returned to Trenité van Doorne (now Simmens & Simmons) until 1996, when Erwin set up his own firm (Kupperman van der Wiel (now Lexence). Erwin held the chair of this firm from 1996 – 2003. Erwin co – founded the Netherlands Mediation Institute and the Netherlands Arbitration Institute for Facility Management. In 2015 Erwin co – founded NineYards Law, existing of partners from leading international law firms.
